About Patriots Forum

We are delighted to welcome you to "Patriots Forum’, which is voluntary study-group with representations from a cross section of the people, including retired civil servants, army officers, social scientists and other sections of intelligentsia. It is working with the primary and immediate objective of making all Indian citizens, irrespective of caste, creed or community, aware of the ground realities, especially relating to demographic changes, that the members of the Forum felt will adversely affect the multicultural, secular and age-old pluralistic society of India as also the integrity of the Indian civilization as a whole. The Forum has chosen to remain apolitical, non-communal and nationalist in all its activities.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Feeling alarmed at the fast changing religious composition of the Indian society, as revealed in the Government of India’s Census Report of 2001, a few like-minded individuals got together and registered themselves as a nonprofit, Charitable Thrust on March 28, 2006.

Soon a core group started working with the primary and immediate objective of making all Indian citizens, irrespective of caste, creed or community, aware of the ground realities, especially relating to demographic changes, that the members of the Forum felt will adversely affect the multicultural, secular and age-old pluralistic society of India as also the integrity of the Indian civilization as a whole. The Forum has chosen to remain apolitical, non-communal and nationalist in all its activities.

OUR HISTORY

With Patriotism as their core value, many of our members in twilight of their life still make youngsters blush with their outstanding jest, zeal and vigour to make meaningful contribution in making our great country an equitable place to live!

TRADITION OF PATRIOTISM
SEMINARS & Webinars

we have been regularly organizing seminars and workshops at various parts of India to seek support and attention of common people and also to sensitize them about the greatness of glorious Indian culture and the existential threats looming large on our pluralistic society.

We have been striving to make our youth ready to take leadership positions and to encourage them to espouse greater social values as propagated by our great social and cultural heritage.

Considering present Covid 19 pandemic and related restrictions, we have been now regularly organizing virtual meeting and webinars. we are sharing the follow-up actions and recommendations arrived at the meetings and sharing with our esteemed members.

The announcement of the setting up of the Sachar Committee, the selection of its members and formulation of the terms of reference by the Government of India alerted the Forum to the possibility of another step by the Government in furtherance of its policy to garner minority votes by providing religion based concessions. The Forum, therefore, took up the issue with the Sachar Committee by filing a formal petition, requesting to be invited for further presentation in person as per the terms of the government’s notification. Not getting any response from the Sachar Committee, the Forum submitted a further “Rejoinder” to the Committee, with copies to all members of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha as also senior government functionaries like the Prime Minister, Union Home Minister and others.

After further waiting for government’s action on the Sachar Committee Report submitted to the Lok Sabha, the Forum finally filed a PIL before the Delhi High Court in January 2008 against the proposed implementation of the recommendations of this Report.

Among major activities of the Forum, the following deserve mention -

  • Filing a PIL in the Delhi High Court in January 2008 challenging the setting up of Sachar Committee as a religion specific body in gross violation of the Right to Equality enshrined in Article 15 which specifically forbids any discrimination on ground of religion and prohibits religion-based preferential treatment. The PIL has been admitted and the hearing is in progress.

  • Lodged a protest against the most unethical conduct of the Vice Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia, leading a street march in defence of extending legal protection to undesirable anti-national elements involved in acts of violence against the State.

  • Submitted a Memorandum to the Prime Minister making concrete suggestions for improving the national security scenario, after 26/11 Mumbai Massacre.

  • Sent an Open Letter to the US President over his ignoring India’s important role in, and contribution towards, global peace, in his so-called historic speech on June 4, 2009, at Al Azhar University, Cairo.

In our endeavour to educate Indian masses at all levels about the danger of fast-changing demographic contours of the country, the Forum has drawn up an ambitious scheme to reach out a note on “Socio-political Implications of Demographic Changes”, to all 600 districts of the country in different languages.
